Hello I am Laura, Joanna's daughter and I have recently joined Sitting Pretty Cats at Home on a full time basis.

Since I can remember, I always wanted to work with animals.

After my 'A' levels, I joined Wingrave Veterinary Surgery in Sutton, Surrey and began my training as a veterinary nurse and qualified in 2003. While working as a Qualified Veterinary Nurse at Wingrave, I progressed from Senior Nurse to Deputy Head Nurse and then Head Nurse. During my time at Wingrave, the opportunity arose for me to rescue 3 kittens who had been abandoned outside the surgery one morning. I took them home and nursed them back to health with the view to re-home them once they were old enough, but we all grew too attached to them and consequently they stayed.

I left Wingrave in 2010 after having my first child and went to work as a Veterinary Nurse on a part-time basis at Maven Veterinary Surgery in North Cheam.

I thoroughly enjoyed working closely with all the animals in my care but my main passion was cats, I felt a connection with them as they respond well to someone who is quiet and calm. I love all their different personalities, including my own feisty cat Thomas who was another cat I rescued after he was found with a broken leg and needed particular care as he required an external fixature and strict cage rest for 3 months. He lived happily with my family until the ripe old age of 17.

After my daughter required major surgery on her hip, I took a year away from working at the Vets to look after her and support her at school, where I then applied to become a teaching assistaant. I worked at the school for 3 years, leaving recently to join Sitting Pretty as I missed the contact with cats too much.
